facts about the bible

BYUtv - Fires Of Faith
More than 80% of the King James Bible, printed in 1611, can be attributed to British religious scholar William Tyndale 1494-1536
In 1408, a decree known as The Constitutions of Oxford made translation of the whole Bible or any part of it into English illegal
In 1523, Tyndale was denied by the English church when he sought special permission to translate the bible; he subsequently left England and undertook the first English translation of the bible from the original Hebrew and Greek texts
Tyndale’s translation, known as The Tyndale Bible, played a key role in spreading Reformation ideas across the English-speaking world and was viewed as a direct challenge to the Roman Catholic Church and the English church and state
Tyndale also wrote The Practyse of Prelates opposing Henry VIII’s planned divorce from Catherine of Aragon
In 1536, Tyndale was charged of heresy and condemned to death by strangulation and subsequent burning
Just a few short years later, King Henry VIII authorized The Great Bible as the first Bible in English; The Great Bible, printed in 1539, included a majority of Tyndale’s translations (with objectionable features revised)
Seventy five years later, King James ordered a new bible, now known as the King James Bible, featuring Tyndale’s work and carrying the monarch’s name forward for centuries to come
The King James Bible contains 66 books, 1,189 chapters and 31,102 verses
In 1620, an early edition of the King James Bible was brought to America on the Mayflower by John Alden, a member of the ship’s crew who stayed in the new world as a colonist
Over the next few decades, the King James Bible overtook the Geneva Bible to become the preeminent Bible in the American colonies
1711 marked the first centennial of the King James Bible; as the leading English Bible at the time, it was read in churches and schools, influential in art, theatre and literature, and was a motivator of science and scientists

“Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.” - Robert Frost

“Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.”

- Robert Frost.

Wayne Dyer said .....
One of my favorite poets, Robert Frost, is the author of one of the world’s best-loved and most famous poems, “The Road Not Taken.” This poem about choosing an independent course applies in all areas of our lives. To me, Frost says be wary of following the pack, and don’t do anything simply because everyone else is doing it. Also, do what you do in the manner that you perceive it, regardless of how everyone is doing it, or has done it. The importance of choosing your own path is reflected in the poem’s conclusion—that taking the road “less traveled by” makes all the difference. Virtually all the people we revere took the road less traveled by, and that is why they were able to make a difference.

Frost himself was expected to be a farmer, lawyer, and then a teacher. He tried farming and left it. He entered law school to be the lawyer his grandfather wanted him to be, but departed almost immediately without notice. He left Harvard because of an illness, perhaps brought on by trying the road most traveled. But poetry was in his heart, and when he went down a road that few traveled with him, it made all the difference, and today we have his poetry because of that choice.

Frost’s poem invites you to forget peer pressure and instead know that if you truly want to make a difference in your life, you cannot do so by doing things the way everyone else does or because everyone else is. If you choose to lead your life just like everyone else, then what exactly is it that you have to offer? The road most traveled by is one that will allow you to fit in and feel accepted, but it will never allow you to make a difference.

In my own professional work I have been willing to speak and write about topics and ideas that were criticized by those on the more frequented road. In the beginning, the road I took was filled with potholes and gravel. Yet my work has always come from that place I trust most—my own heart—and so I persisted. As the years passed the road became paved and well-lit. Now many who once thought this was a preposterous path are walking with me. I have heard them say, “I used to think those ideas were insane, but now I really like what you were saying then.” I am happy to have experienced what Robert Frost was writing about.

Listen to your own heart concerning the path you wish to travel. Even if your entire life training has been in one direction, if it is not what you feel now, then begin the adventure of exploring a less-traveled road....by wayne dyer

About this video:
"This is a music video I shot for a local musician, Doug Voice, and his song "Ode To A Dead Man". We shot in the manitobamusic recording room, located in a renovated old-school building with brick walls and exposed ducts; a very good shooting atmosphere. Inserts were shot in St. Andrews cemetary just north of the city."

Ringo's drumming influence

I was 10 years old when Ringo officially became a Beatle and it seems like I've listen to his music all my life. I especially like the drum break on Sgt Pepper's and it's one of the 1st drum beats I learn to play on the drums along with the Dave Clark Five and Led Zepplin drum beats......thanks Ringo.
I used a kitchen chair and a couple of wooden spoons until I got some old drum sticks with tape on them. For another drum I used an upside down garbage pail from one of the bedrooms. It eventually split on the bottom and the chair split too so it had lots of tape on it. My mother wasn't too happy with her ruined kitchen chair and all the noise so I ended up out in the garage in the summer.!!

Robert Frost poem Voice Ways

Current mood:pensive

I picked up 2 books of poetry and works by Robert Frost. I open one and my eyes fell on a poem called "Voice Ways" I read it and thought I got it but as I reread it I'm not so sure . Oddly enough it's not clear.
Is there a connection between poems and songwriting ? between art and music? Do we need "art"? If so where do I fit in? Am I writing songs that very few will hear or enjoy? Am I wasting my precious time? There are moments that I do enjoy when I'm creating and I sometimes marvel at what comes of my"art" but it also doesn't pay much right now.........I'm hoping to achieve complete "musical freedom" someday but up till now I've been chasing  commercial success or the "hit" song......anyways I can 't seem to find any fiction books that I like to read , so I go to poetry in hopes of elevation , insight and something "new".
Robert Frost says in this poem "Voice Ways", "Some things are never clear..."

Kate’s family: A question of etiquette

Every wedding has its share of drama. The royal wedding is no different. Kate Middleton's parents, Michael and Carole, are raising some eyebrows over rumors they are attempting to turn a profit from their daughter's big day.

They aren't selling tickets, but, according to the rumor mill, Mr. and Mrs. Middleton are planning to sell several wedding-themed items, including cake toppers and Union Jack teapot vases, at their online store, Party Pieces. Though the couple denies the items in any way exploit the wedding of their eldest daughter, others are calling the sale a bit uncouth. This isn't the first time Kate's family has run afoul of royal etiquette. And while the  gaffes certainly aren't the stuff of international incident, they have stirred the gossip pot in the U.K. Back in 2007, Kate's mom was spotted chewing gum "nonstop" while attending a royal event, a major no-no. "Trident-Gate" was caught on camera and led to quite a few articles on the faux pas.
But hold on. A 2010 article from the U.K.'s Telegraph explains that not all of the family's bad press is fair. For example, according to legend, Carole Middleton committed the ultimate bit of poor etiquette when she once greeted the Queen by saying "pleased to meet you" instead of the appropriate response ("How do you do?"). There's only one problem -- again, according to the Telegraph, the alleged meeting "never took place."
And yet, there is no denying that the family is well known for saying or doing the improper thing (at least according to royal standards). Younger sister Pippa raised a few eyebrows when she gave an interview that promoted the family business just weeks before the engagement was announced. Some questioned if the timing was a way to drum up business.
And what wedding (nay, what family?) would be complete without a black sheep uncle? Kate's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, was allegedly caught in a drug-related sting back in 2009. There's no word on whether Carole's younger brother will be invited to the April 29 wedding, but he has said that he is "very happy and excited" for William and Kate.
